English Paper Piecing Part 4 | Turn Your EPP into a Quilt Block

If you’ve been following along with our English Paper Piecing tutorials, you’ll know just how satisfying it is to finish an EPP unit and admire all those perfectly aligned shapes. But the next question is, what do I do with it now?

Go from this...

To this...

In my latest video, I'll show you how to take an EPP piece and, using a sewing machine, turn it into something you can use in any quilt by adding a border so it becomes a proper, usable block shape. It’s not complicated, but it is one of those steps that makes everything fit together, and suddenly your beautiful hand-stitched piece becomes something you can build into quilts, bags, and all sorts of other projects.

I talk a bit about when I remove my papers, because I know that’s something many of you wonder about. The truth is, it depends. Sometimes I leave them in to keep everything crisp, and other times I’ll take them out once the surrounding pieces are in place. It’s one of those things that is a personal preference and becomes more intuitive the more you do it.

If you’ve got a few chunks of EPP pieces tucked away and you’re not quite sure how to move forward with them, this is exactly what I’d recommend watching. Once you see how it works, you’ll realise just how easy it is to take that next step.
