Our Favorite Fabrics: Flowers on Main by Laura Heine (Perfect for Fabric Collage!)

We just unpacked a brand-new fabric line, and if you know me, you already know how excited I get when Laura Heine releases something new. As a Certified Laura Heine collage teacher, her fabric lines are some of my absolute favorites to work with, and Flowers on Main is no exception!

Laura designs her collections with collage artists in mind. The colors, scales, and motifs are intentionally created to make fussy cutting easier and more fun. But here’s the thing: even if you’re not a collager, these fabrics make absolutely stunning quilts. The prints play beautifully together, offering the perfect balance of bold motifs and supportive textures.

What makes Laura Heine Fabrics so special?

Every collection Laura creates follows a smart formula that works for both collage and quilting. When you combine the following five elements, you get what I like to call a “no-fail fabric pull.” It works for traditional piecing and for collage art!

- Large-Scale Florals: Perfect for fussy cutting and creating high-impact focal points.
- Medium and Small Prints: These help transition between fabrics and add depth and movement.
- Muted Backgrounds: Her tonal prints act like “soft solids” — full of subtle texture but never competing with your feature motifs.
- Linear Prints: Stripes and directional patterns add structure and balance.
- Dot-Like Textures: Tiny repeats that tuck into the background and pull everything together.

If you’ve ever taken a collage class with me, you already know how important scale variety and smart backgrounds are and this line has it all! Flowers on Main is full of color, personality, and the kind of thoughtful detail I’ve come to expect from Laura. Honestly? I want to take home a little bit of all of it!

We’ve already seen bolts starting to dwindle, and we just put them on the floor! If you’re curious about collage or looking for your next quilt inspiration, come take a look in person.

Check out my video to preview the collection, then stop by The Cotton Patch to see Flowers on Main for yourself and bring home your favorites before they’re gone. You can also purchase them on our website HERE

I have a feeling this line won’t be around for long!

Thanks for reading and happy stitching!
