Hi Everyone! This is Bryn, and I am going to be sharing some of my favorite books we have in the store with you today.
Recently, I have been trying to improve my free-motion quilting, and these are three books I think are great resources for others trying to do the same.
First off, we have 25 Days to Better Machine Quilting: Hands-On Learning to Improve Your Skills by Lori Kennedy.
This book is great for those who are trying to figure out where to start with free-motion quilting or those who want an organized reference book for when they encounter issues with their quilting. It breaks down the process into quick, manageable chunks of information—covering everything from quilting with different kinds of batting to troubleshooting tension issues.
Next, we have 180 More Doodle Quilting Designs: Free Motion Ideas for Blocks, Borders, and Corners by Karen M. Burns and Amelia Johanson.
This book is great for those who already know the basics of free-motion quilting but want help learning how to experiment with different designs. Not only does this book show you 180 designs you can change to fit your own quilt, but it also guides you through adapting designs to fit corners and borders—areas where beginner quilters can often get stuck.
Finally, we have The Ultimate Guide to Free-Motion Quilting with Angela Walters.
This book is great for those wanting to take their free-motion quilting to the next level. It starts out with an overview of free-motion quilting supplies and tips for getting started. Next, it moves on to a breakdown of quilting strategies in different sections of a quilt, highlighting how to utilize larger areas of negative space. 104 free-motion quilting designs are then carefully outlined to finish off the book.
All of these books would be great additions to a quilter’s library, and I would strongly recommend checking them out the next time you come to the Cotton Patch!
