Why I Prefer the 5 mm Width for Precision
The first thing you should know is that I'm a big fan of this machine's 5 mm width. I know a lot of machines are wider, but for me, that 5 mm is key for accuracy, especially when I'm working on small, intricate blocks. It’s so simple to use and there's a little blade that cuts the thread to the perfect length for me, making it easy to just pop the bobbin right in. No more fumbling around!Threading is a breeze, too, with clear arrows to guide you. Plus, the screen on this machine is big and bright. I can see exactly what stitch I have selected, what foot to use, and what my stitch length is set to. And trust me, being able to set the needle to stop in the down position is a feature you'll use constantly for perfect pivots.
The #37 Patchwork Foot: My Absolute Favorite
If I had to pick just one thing, it would be the Bernina patchwork foot. This is my absolute favorite feature for quilting. It has these wonderful little notches that give you a perfect guide for a flawless quarter-inch seam. Because the machine is a 5 mm width, this foot covers both feed dogs exactly, which is why it gives you such a perfectly straight seam every single time.
